Adrian Wilson - Oboe

As well as being a member of Sheffield based chamber group Ensemble 360- Adrian holds the principal oboe position in the Royal Scottish National Symphony Orchestra. Adrian previously held the principal oboe position in the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland for a number of years and now appears frequently as guest principal oboe with many orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
 
He is also in great demand as a soloist in the UK and abroad with recent concerto performances including Richard Strauss's concerto with the Sheffield Chamber Orchestra and the Dublin Baroque players, Mozart's concerto with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, J.S. Bach's Double Concerto with Nicola Benedetti and Ensemble 360 and with Bradley Creswick and the Northern Sinfonia.
 
Adrian studied Maths and Music at the University of Birmingham followed by postgraduate studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was twice finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition and Principal oboe in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Southbank Sinfonia.
 
Whilst not playing the oboe Adrian indulges in his passions of cooking, wine tasting, half-finishing crosswords and taking walks in the Peak District.
