In line with national Early Years Strategy, we run educational and participatory activity led by high-quality professional musicians, mainly within schools, which complements activity delivered by other providers and the schools themselves.
We were the subject of a two-year research project led by Dr Stephanie Pitts at The University of Sheffield that explored young children’s engagement with music and the potential involvement of families in shared activity through concerts.
In June 2014 we hosted a specialist conference and showcase, 'Listen Up', that explored early-years music-making for nurseries and schools. It featured Sue Nicholls, Sheffield Music Hub, partners from across the city, and two performances of our award-winning commissions. From January 2016 we will be kicking off the first of many networking events which will be part of a project funded by Youth Music. Do keep checking our website for updates on the project and its activities.
