Juliette Bausor

“...radiating composure and command in equal measure...” The Times

Described by The Times as “a rising star in the arts firmament”, Juliette enjoys a growing reputation as one of the foremost flautists of her generation. Selected by the European Concert Hall Organisation as one of its Rising Stars for the 2013-2014 season, Juliette will be performing at venues including Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Bozar in Brussels, Birmingham Town Hall, Palace of Arts in Budapest, Vienna Musikverein, Stockholm Konserthus, L’Auditori Barcelona, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Philharmonie Luxembourg, The Sage Gateshead and the Barbican, London.

Juliette began her studies with Anna Pope as a junior at the Royal Academy of Music and the Purcell School of Music before going on to study with Philippa Davies, Paul Edmund Davies and Samuel Coles at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She went on to further her tuition at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris with Sophie Cherrier and Vincent Lucas.

Subsequent to a string of prestigious accolades, including winning the Gold Medal in both the Shell LSO Competition and the Royal Over-Seas League Competition, and reaching the televised Concerto Final of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, Juliette has appeared as a concerto soloist with orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, European Union Chamber Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia and London Mozart Players, with conductors including Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Mario Venzago and Sir Neville Marriner. Success on an international scale is reflected in tours around Europe and beyond, to Thailand, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Australia and New Zealand.

Juliette is principal flute with both Royal Northern Sinfonia and London Mozart Players and also appears as guest principal flute with orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.

As a dedicated chamber musician, Juliette is regularly invited to give recitals at major venues and festivals throughout the UK, including numerous Wigmore Hall and South Bank appearances. She has collaborated with many other leading chamber musicians including violinist Thomas Zehetmair, pianist Llyr Williams, soprano Kate Royal and harpist Catrin Finch as well as groups such as the Coull, Elias, Badke and Carducci String Quartets.
