Listen Up: Music for ages 3-7

In June 2014 Music in the Round presented an inspiring day of practical workshops, talks, showcase performances and networking opportunities. It focused on how music fits into the EYFS framework and the national curriculum, child-led creativity, how to include music-making every day, and using music as a springboard for speech and language development and story-telling.

The day included:

▪ a keynote speech on ‘The importance of music for ages 3-7’ by expert Sue Nicholls, who also leads a practical workshop on bringing stories to life through music;

▪ practical information and ideas about how to work with Music Hubs and other partners to deliver inspiring music;

▪ and two children's concerts, given by Sheffield school pupils and Ensemble 360 with Polly IvesThe Lion Who Wanted to Love and Giddy Goat, plus

▪ case-studies, displays, practical resources and networking opportunities – and more!

It took place at our home The Crucible Theatre and worked with 75 delegates including; early-years staff, Key Stage 1 teachers, and music leaders & co-ordinators from across the region.
