Music in the Round is seeking a new Head of Programmes and a new Development Manager
We are living in strange times, but we want to keep facing forward and creating wonderful live music experiences for people of all ages. In order to achieve our ambitions, we are currently recruiting for two new positions with Music in the Round: Head of Programmes and Development Manager.
DEADLINE: 9.00am, Monday 26 October
Head of Programmes: Friday 13 November and Friday 27 November
Development Manager: Friday 6 November
Head of Programmes
The Head of Programmes is an exciting new position with Music in the Round (MitR). The person who is recruited will join our small team as we face up to the challenges ahead while continuing to focus on fully integrating all our stands of activity in partnership with venues around the country as well as within Sheffield. A significant part of the role will be liaising with Ensemble 360 and seeking guest artists for the year-round programme of activity. The Head of Programmes will also lead on developing new L&P activity as well as overseeing current projects and determining how best to integrate them within our whole programme; and will liaise with Ensemble 360 and an annually-appointed Guest Festival Curator to programme the annual Sheffield Chamber Music Festival. Working alongside and collaborating with a dedicated team of staff and superb musicians, the Head of Programmes has the potential to make a huge impact on the chamber music scene across the country.
We are looking for a decisive, knowledgeable and motivated person who has a strong vision for the power of music to bring joy, provide stimulation and to move audiences. The Head of Programmes will provide the inspiration for musicians, audiences and communities to share and develop a deep connection with Music in the Round and our programme. Passion, intellect, insight, musical talent and charisma will be required, as well as a willingness to work in collaboration with a range of partners.
We are seeking a Development Manager who is passionate about what we do, and can develop excellent relationships with a wide range of supporters, donors, participants, staff and organisations. Getting to know existing supporters and Trustees is vital, as is gaining a thorough understanding of our wide range of activity and musicians. This role will include creating a cultivation plan to develop and inspire increased support from existing and new supporters, in collaboration with the Executive Director and Trustees, as well as take the lead on personal approaches to existing supporters and new donors. We are looking for a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion in the way we reach out to people in every aspect of our work.
Music in the Round has supporters who have been involved with us since our earliest beginnings in the 1980s, joined by those who have become Friends very recently to support us in these challenging times. An appeal in early 2020 when lockdown prevented our events from taking place led to a very generous response, and we are looking for someone who can build on this warmth towards us as we plan our activity for the future.
