Schools
In schools we lead various long- and short-term projects and one-off events. Engaging young people at all levels from nursery, infant, and junior schools to secondary schools and colleges, these projects aim to support the work of teachers by offering exciting opportunities to work with and be inspired by professional musicians at close quarters. We also work to support teachers themselves with INSET sessions, resource packs, and ongoing advice and inspiration.
Projects are devised and led by Polly Ives, Resident Animateur (0-8 years), alongside Ensemble 360 and visiting artists. Often they are inspired by programmes and ideas in Music in the Round’s three annual concert series. Increasingly our projects have a digital flavour, so keep a look out online for videos and soundtracks created by the children themselves!
<< For example, have a look at Watercliffe Meadow School's TRANSFORMATIONS film.
You can find more information about schools projects on these pages. We welcome conversations and relationships with new partner schools just as enthusiastically as we like to continue existing ones! If you run music in school or nursery and would like to work with us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Artsmark
We work with a number of Artsmark schools in South Yorkshire, contributing high-quality music experiences for primary, secondary and special school pupils which enrich their musical understanding and experience.
We draw specific links between our workshops and concerts in schools and the curriculum so that schools achieve maximum benefit from our offer. We understand and advocate the potential for involvement in music as a way of helping academic achievement and attainment across subjects. Our offer to Artsmark schools runs from EYFS to KS 4 and supports progression in music, signposting children to other music-related opportunities, such as music technology and different types of performance or engagement.
We work in partnership with Cape UK, the ACE bridge organisation for Yorkshire and the Humber. Artsmark Offers can be viewed on their page here. Contact us at any time to discuss Artsmark.
