Programme Information

We are very excited to announce plans to live-stream our 7.00pm concert on 5 December with Ensemble 360 from Upper Chapel.

BEETHOVEN String Quartet No.5, Op.18 No.5
DVOŘÁK Piano Quartet No.2, Op.87

Beethoven’s quartets explore every possible human emotion, and in his Fifth String Quartet he wrote some of the most uplifting and sparkling of all his music, in which the most perfectly simple melodies are thrown about amongst the four musicians, like a game. Dvořák’s Second Piano Quartet is no less playful, but here the music also takes on a more dramatic and impassioned nature, saturated in rich harmonies and soaring, rhapsodic tunes.

This concert is dedicated to Ronnie Birks (1945-2020), second violinist in the Lindsay String Quartet.

You will be able to watch the live-streamed concert from the homepage of our website at 7pm on Saturday 5 December, you can also watch the live-stream directly via our Vimeo channel here.

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR LIVE-STREAMED CONCERT

This is our first live-streamed concert from Upper Chapel!

We are offering it for free so that everyone and anyone can enjoy hearing our wonderful Ensemble 360 musicians while we are unable to present live music. We are asking those who feel able to contribute to donate the price of a ticket as if attending a live concert. This will help us support our wonderful musicians and cover costs such as all the technical equipment required to bring this concert to you in the comfort of your home.

Find out how you can donate online, or by text message here.

Announcement re: public performances planned for Saturday 5 December

In light of the UK government's recent announcement that Sheffield will be placed under Tier 3 restrictions when the country moves out of national lockdown on 2 December, we are disappointed to confirm that this concert can no longer include a public audience.

Sadly, the tightened restrictions mean that live performances to a public audience are now not allowed, as they were previously. We're hugely disappointed by this, as it means we cannot invite ticket holders into Upper Chapel for our concerts this December.

All ticket-holders for 5 December will be contacted directly by box office about credit notes and/or refunds in the next few days. We kindly ask for your patience, there’s no need to contact either box office or us, as they will be in touch with all bookers as soon as possible. If you have any questions in the meantime, you can contact us on our office mobile 07523 779181 or by email at concerts@musicintheround.co.uk.
