Autumn concerts now confirmed!

Tickets for autumn concerts to go on sale this September

With a fair amount of cautious optimism, we are continuing to plan for an autumn season of concerts in Sheffield. We can now confirm the on-sale dates, booking process and safety measures that we are putting in place for these concerts.

More details about the concerts can be found here.

Please note that due to the limited capacity of these socially distanced concerts, ticket sales are restricted to a maximum of 2 tickets per event, per transaction.

Early booking is strongly recommended.

Priority booking for Friends of Music in the Round
For your maximum safety, and due to reduced capacity at Sheffield Theatres box office, we are only offering ONLINE booking for this autumn’s concerts. All Friends of Music in the Round will be sent precise booking details by post at the beginning of September. Priority booking will open at 10am Tuesday 8 September. If you have not received your booking letter by Monday 7 September please contact Jenny Davies by email at

General booking
For your maximum safety, and due to reduced capacity at Sheffield Theatres box office, we are only offering ONLINE booking for this autumn’s concerts. General booking will open online at 10am on Tuesday 15 September.

For those unable to book online OR requiring a wheelchair space or hearing loop
If you do not have access to the internet and need assistance with booking concerts, OR if you will require a wheelchair space or hearing loop during the concert you can call us on our office mobile 07523 779181 or email between 10am and 5pm from Tuesday 8 September (priority booking only / general booking service available from Tuesday 15 September).

Please leave us a message with your contact telephone number and preferred concert dates and times. We will call you back at a convenient moment, and help to make your booking for you. This arrangement is only for people who really do not have the option to book online or who will require use of a hearing loop, due to limited staffing at this unusual time. We do not currently have the capacity to be able to run it as a general information line, so please only call with booking requests.

Please do not call Sheffield Theatres’ Box Office as their telephone lines are closed as a small team continue to work remotely.

COVID-19 Secure Concerts
It is of paramount importance that we ensure audiences, musicians and staff are kept safe before, during and after our concerts.

We have signed up to Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard for Covid-19 secure events and venues.  Due to the ongoing challenges of presenting events indoors, if you do purchase tickets, we politely stress that for anyone attending our concerts this autumn you must read and agree to the full terms and conditions below. These may be reviewed and updated as Public Health England guidance requires.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at

Thank you. We really appreciate your understanding and support.

Please be aware that:

All tickets will be sold online in advance only (there will not be any tickets available on the door).

You will be required to wear a face-covering for the duration of your time in Upper Chapel, in line with Public Health England guidance.  Hand-sanitiser and disposable face-masks will be available on the door.

To maximise capacity as best and fairly as we can, you will only be able to purchase tickets in singles and pairs, and you should only purchase tickets to sit together with members of your own household. Please note that due to the limited capacity of these socially distanced concerts, ticket sales are restricted to a maximum of 2 tickets per event, per transaction.

All tickets will be for reserved and numbered seats, and you must sit in the seat for which you purchased a ticket. There will not be any opportunity to move into an alternative seat before, during or after the performance.

All tickets will include a specified arrival time to ensure a sufficiently staggered entry to Upper Chapel. Please stick to this arrival time as closely as possible, as this will help us to ensure a smooth, safe entry to the building for all ticket-holders. We also ask for your patience at the end of the concert as there will be staggered departures for the same reasons.

We will only be releasing a very limited number of tickets for each performance to ensure adequate social distancing of 2 metres minimum throughout. We will be operating a strict one-way only walk-way throughout the building, and politely request that you cooperate with our staff in adhering to these one-way systems and 2 metre distancing at all times.

We will not be providing printed programmes for our autumn concerts. We will make the notes available online, in advance of the concert, so you can print your own copy or read them before the concert.

Please do not bring any unnecessary belongings with you to concerts. There will be designated spaces under and next to seats for bags and coats. We politely request that you do not use the seats in front or behind you to store things.

There will not be an interval, and refreshments will not be available. Toilets will be open for use before and after the concert on a strictly ‘one person at a time’ basis, with a designated waiting area in the main chapel. This is to minimise the risk to everyone in the building.

We will be conducting infra-red temperature checks on everyone at their point of arrival, including audience, staff and musicians.

Anyone who shows any Covid-19 symptoms, including a raised temperature or cough must stay at home and isolate in line with Public Health England guidelines. If you have a raised temperature at the time of arrival, or are showing signs of a continuous cough, we regret that you will not be permitted into the building under any circumstances.

Full refunds will be available to all bookers unable to attend; you can claim a refund at absolutely any time prior to the concert. Should the concert have to be cancelled for any reason, full refunds will automatically be made to all ticket-holders.

NHS Test and Trace systems require all customers to provide up-to-date contact details at the time of booking. We will only keep this information for Test and Trace purposes and, in line with PHE policies, we will destroy this contact information after 21 days.

Due to the complexity and rapidly changing nature of the pandemic, we reserve the right to update these guidelines, in line with PHE guidance, at any time.

We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone failing to comply with these terms and conditions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at

We are sorry that these new arrangements will limit the numbers of people able to attend our concerts this autumn, and for all the hoops that you may feel like you’ll have to jump through in order to attend. Your safety and that of the musicians is vital, and this does appear to be how we have to live our lives in this ‘new normal’ for now, at least.

However, we feel it is important that we provide these safe performance opportunities to our musicians this autumn, supporting their livelihoods at a time when they really need it, as well as offering you the opportunity to hear them play live music again.

To reflect the length of the concerts and the different experience this autumn, tickets are priced at £15 (£10 disabled & unemployed/ £5 under-35s & students). However, seating everyone at a suitable social distance means that we have had to reduce audience capacity to just 20% of a usual full house. This obviously impacts on our box office income, so if you feel able to make a donation on top of your ticket purchase this autumn, or even if you are unable to attend, you will be helping us to ensure we can continue to support our much-loved musicians in this most challenging of times. You can donate at any time at

We are also still exploring the options for some complementary online videos from our musicians that everyone can enjoy from the comfort of home. We’ll share more news on these very soon.

As ever, we really appreciate all your understanding and support.

Thank you.
