Ensemble 360 live stream concert this Saturday 5 December

We're delighted to announce our plans to live stream Ensemble 360's concert on Saturday 5 December at 7.00pm from Upper Chapel.

This exciting news comes in the wake of the UK government's recent announcement that Sheffield will be placed under Tier 3 restrictions when the country moves out of national lockdown on 2 December.

Sadly, the tightened restrictions mean that live performances to a public audience are now not allowed, as they were previously. We're hugely disappointed by this, as it means we cannot invite ticket holders into Upper Chapel for our concerts with Ensemble 360 on Saturday 5 December.

Instead, we will be airing a pilot live-stream on the homepage of our website with an opportunity for viewers to pay for their experience by online donation or text message.

Jo Towler, Executive Director of Music in the Round, said:

"Once again, we're having to respond swiftly to the changing picture of COVID-19 restrictions in Sheffield.

"Ensemble 360's musicians were hugely disappointed not to be able to perform their planned concerts in November, and we were delighted when they generously used their planned rehearsal time to record their 5 November programme at home, for viewers to enjoy online. With over 1,200 views already, and a warm reception from our friends and supporters, we're keen to build on this success.

"We have therefore decided to pilot a live-stream of Ensemble 360's concert from Upper Chapel, so that everyone can enjoy the planned performance of music from our wonderful musicians.

"Although we're offering this online experience for free, we're asking anyone who feels able to do so to contribute £5 per person in support of this new initiative. If this pilot event is a success, we will consider live-streaming concerts as part of our digital offer in the future."

Ensemble 360 will be performing Beethoven's String Quartet No.5 and Dvorak's Piano Quartet No.2.

The full concert programme is available to view online. The live-stream will be available at www.musicintheround.co.uk from 7.00pm on 5 December, and can also be viewed directly via our Vimeo channel.

All ticket-holders for 5 December will be contacted directly by box office about credit notes and/or refunds in the next few days. We kindly ask for your patience, there’s no need to contact either box office or us, as they will be in touch with all bookers as soon as possible. If you have any questions in the meantime, you can contact us on our office mobile 07523 779181 or by email at concerts@musicintheround.co.uk.
