Robert Laidlow

Robert Laidlow is a composer and researcher based in the UK. Robert’s music has been commissioned and performed across the globe and broadcast on television and radio.

His boundary-pushing orchestral music includes Exoplanets, (London Philharmonic Orchestra & Basel Interfinity Festival), TECHNO-UTOPIA, a concerto for piano and intelligent instrument soloist (BBC Radio 3 & Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin), and Silicon for orchestra and electronics (BBC Philharmonic).

Other recent collaborations include Tui for International Contemporary Ensemble, content for saxophonist David Zucchi and Post-Singularity Songs for Stephanie Lamprea.

Robert’s research focusses on developing and deploying artist-led creative technologies (including machine learning/AI, video game technologies and improvising machines) that empower creativity. It positions live musical performance as a valuable space for reflecting on and challenging our relationship with emerging technologies. ​He is Senior Fellow at King’s College London, Department of Music.
