Welsh star pianist, Llŷr Williams, returns to Sheffield with a programme exploring the enduring influence of Baroque music from the 1700s on later generations of composers. Busoni reimagines Bach’s great organ works for the modern piano, Liszt transforms a Bach theme into dazzling virtuosity, and Dukas pays tribute to Rameau in one of the most colourful masterpieces of French piano music. Brahms’s monumental Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel is a work that unites intellectual brilliance with breathtaking power.
